Post election violence support

After the December 2007 general election the outcome of the elections results were heavily disputed between the running contenders thus plunging the country into violence between the party supporters. The result of the violence was a loss of over 1,200 lives and over 350,000 internally displaced persons and destruction of properties and business.

In Kikuyu the home of Henry Wanyoike were held over 1,000 IDPs in makeshifts camps and other hosted by well-wishers across the division. These people needed clothings and food, through Henry Wanyoike Foundation we mobilized clothing and foodstuff and were visited Kirathimo camp and donated clothing and foodstuff worth over Kshs 50,000.

Machakos Water Project

The is a dream come true project for Machakos Technical Institute for Blind after around for decades of dry taps. The institute is located in one of the driest areas in Kenya. After Henry went through rehabilitation program he had a first hand experience of the challenge the visually impaired go through as they fetched water from towns or even having to go without washing and cleaning for days and vowed that one day he would solve the perennial shortage of water with the institute. He embarked in mobilizing funds and he participated in a marathon in UK, organized by Standard Chartered Bank and he raised over Kshs 450,000 which went to the initial start up. The Standard Chartered Bank Kenya gave out over 1 million Kshs to finish the project. The project is now up and running thanks to all our support.

Medical Support

During the Month of Hope (May) 2007 the foundation paid medical bill for a Ann Muthoni young girl aged twelve years at PCEA Kikuyu Hospital who was held there for over eight months due the mother who is a single mother and unemployed couldn't raise the colossal amount of money that had reached over Kshs 140,000. The girl was suffering from diabetes.

Sports / Local Athletes

Henry Wanyoike has been mobilizing running shoes from participants in marathons. His gesture has yielded over 150 running shoes that have gone directly to different young and upcoming athletes around Kikuyu whom many of them look upon Henry as their role model. This gesture was boosted by Regina Buhne a lady from Germany who assisted the foundation to ship the shoes to Kenya.
